BotellaThe vineyards belonging to Viña La Guancha are over 10 ha in size and are located at between 50 and 1,400 metres in altitude, on the slopes of the Teide volcano (3,718 m), on the island of Tenerife (Canary Islands). They are irrigated with rainwater and are 90% ecological. The vines are cultivated in small plots, where are generally trellised, making it impossible to use regular tractors, and mechanised support is therefore limited to garden tractors and scufflers.

Harvest
As it is difficult to use mechanised support in harvesting tasks, the harvest has to be carried out manually, taking all the care the fruit deserves at the right moment of maturity. Normally, the harvest is between the beginning of August and the end of October, but it has been carried out on dates as early as June and as late as November.

Soil
The land that supports the vines is made up of ash, volcanic lava and loam, and has been used to cultivate vines for centuries. The product’s flavour brings together the contributions of earth, sun and water to produce an unequalled flavour and quality. These soils, together with the high prevailing humidity, create fertile land suited for cultivation.

Landscape
The trellised plots along the borders of the plots are very characteristic of this landscape, and give the region an extraordinary beauty admired by its visitors.
