This is a family-run wine estate, in which traditions are maintained in qualitative aspects, and there are modern, mechanised facilities which are equipped with cooling, bottling, labelling and filtering equipment, etc., adding to the quality of the wine.
The estate is set up in the same place as where it was founded; a manor house dating back over 500 years, which has two pretty canary patios, in which ferns and palm trees grow copiously, and in which wine is produced at a gentle rate, within these solid and ancient walls.
Founded in 1839, at the wine estate Viña La Guancha, owner Carlos Pérez Pérez focuses on combining tradition, research and technology while producing wines which are sold under the brand name Viña Zanata, acknowledged both inside and outside the island community.
The name of the estate comes from the town in which it is located, La Guancha, at the Northwest of the island of Tenerife (the largest of the Canary Islands), on the slopes of the Teide volcano (3,718 m).
Given our interest in implementing ecological production methods, chemical treatments have gradually been reduced.
Production at Viña Zanata is around 150,000 litres/year in the different varieties, a total of around 200,000 bottles. |
